I trained at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London, one of the foremost leading educational establishments to focus upon all aspects of nutrition and health from both a holistic and scientific perspective.
I am a fully registered member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT), which works to promote high standards of education, training, practice and integrity in the nutrition profession. I am also a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council whose key function is to enhance public protection by setting standards for registration.
What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is a holistic discipline, which looks at the entire body and all of the different systems within it. These systems include:
Digestive – IBS, Crohns, Diverticulitis
Immune – Allergies, Autoimmune Issues
Cardiovascular – Blood Pressure, Cholestorol
Hormone – PMT, Menopause, Endometriosis, Infertility
Musculoskeletal – Arthritis, Osteoporosis
Neurological – Depression, Autism, ADHD, ADD
Skin – Eczema, ACNE, Psoriasis
I think of myself as a body detective, analysing the symptoms that a body is producing in order to discover which of these systems are out of balance. By providing the right nutrients for the body and ensuring that effective digestion is taking place, the body can be very efficient at healing and rebalancing itself. Sometimes it is also necessary to make some lifestyle adjustments.
I work with a whole range of clients ranging in age from 12 months to 84 years old. Over the years that I have been practicing I have found myself specializing in stress, as this seems to be a common complaint in the fast paced modern world that we live in. Stress manifests itself in the body in countless different ways from digestive problems, lack of energy, low immunity, hormone problems and depression. Something that I have learnt is that nobody’s body is the same as the next person – I enjoy this challenge!
